Goldie Vlieger

Goldie Arlene (Faber) Vlieger, 86, of Winterset, Iowa, passed away on March 10, 2025 following a battle with dementia surrounded by her loving family.

Goldie was born September 12,1938 in Union County South Dakota, the daughter of Peter and Rena (deJager) Faber and was their 12th child out of 15 children. Goldie graduated from Kingsley, Iowa, High School in 1956. She lived and worked in Des Moines, Iowa prior to her marriage to James Junior (Jim) Vlieger on March 17,1961 in Kingsley, Iowa.

Goldie chose to yield her life to God at a young age and remained faithful throughout her years. Jim and Goldie purchased a farm near East Peru, Iowa in 1963 and this is where they raised their family. Goldie was a mother and was instrumental in managing the family farm.

Remaining to cherish Goldie’s memory are spouse Jim Vlieger; children, Gregory (Nancy) Vlieger, Rodney (Wendy) Vlieger, Steven (Lois) Vlieger, Lonny (Jenny) Vlieger, and Arlene (Marty Wegmann) Vlieger; grandchildren, Laura Harrison, Karla Vlieger, Jennifer Vlieger, Martha Henke, Gerrit Vlieger, Ryan Vlieger, Seth Vlieger, Trey Vlieger, Amanda Ross, Kendra Vlieger, and Nicole Belling; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Maynard Faber, Larry Faber, and Ron Faber; sisters, Philene Swearengin, LydiaBeemer; many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Goldie in death are her parents and siblings Rosa deBoer, Freda Faber, June Faber, Wendell Faber, Berneice Faber, Bernice Faber, Roland Faber, Phillip Faber, and Lois Williams.

Special thanks to ALL of the staff at Vintage Hills of Indianola, Iowa for the loving care of our Mother and our entire family over the years and especially in the final days. Thanks also to Dr Julianne Carson-Hem and Suncrest Hospice for exceptional care and kindness.

Visitation will be held March 21, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home - Winterset Chapel located at 1823 N. John Wayne Dr, Winterset IA 50273. Funeral Services will be held March 22, 2025 with a visitation starting at 10a.m. and funeral beginning at 11a.m. at the Jackson Building located at 1146 W. Summit Street in Winterset, IA. A luncheon will take place at the Jackson Building following the funeral with interment to follow at the Peru Cemetery (2590 W Emerson St, Peru, IA 50222).
