Grace Evelyn Berkenbosch

Grace Evelyn Berkenbosch, 90, passed away April 27, 2016 at Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center, IA. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2016 at Panther Creek Church of the Brethren, near Adel, with burial at the Church of the Brethren Cemetery at Panther Creek. Friends may call Noon Sunday, May 1 at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel where family will greet friends from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. with prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Grace was born April 11, 1926 in Des Moines, IA to Isaac and Eleanor Blood. She was the youngest of five girls. She married Beryl Berkenbosch on January 20, 1946. They were married for 61 years and raised four children. They were dairy and row crop farmers north of Des Moines and near Grimes before moving north of Adel. She was active in Ladies Aid and served as a deacon at Panther Creek Church. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting and cake decorating, along with a variety of craft projects. Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Beryl; her parents; sisters, Marie Easton, Leota Doran, Edna Van Wey, Lorena Bullington and infant brother, Isaac. She is survived by daughters, Charlotte (George) Hunt and Pat (Dallas) Steensen of Guthrie Center; sons, Paul (Christy) Berkenbosch of Adel, and Lyle (Sue) Berkenbosch of Bettendorf; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
