Grace I. Strand - Adel

Grace I. Strand, 95, of Adel, Iowa, died Friday, October 17, 2014 at Winterset Care Center South in Winterset, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 21, at Adel United Methodist Church in Adel with Rev. John Augspurger officiating. Burial will be in the Oakdale Cemetery at Adel. Grace was born on May 8, 1919, at Laural, Iowa to Wallace and Cora (Smitherman) Hauser. She was married on December 8, 1941 at Gilman, Iowa, to Albert Kenneth Strand. She had lived in Grinnell and Adel most of her life. She had been a homemaker and also helped her husband in his grocery store. Grace is survived by her son, Steve (Midge) Strand of Adel and daughter, Sue (Brad) Wiley of Lorimor; brother, Lee (Bernice) Hauser of Brooklyn; sister, Joanne (Jerry) Hemphill of North Liberty; grandchildren, Scott, Shane, Melanie, Todd, Kristin, Michael, and Nicole; and great grandchildren, Corbin, Taylor, Macy, Conner, Caden, Talan, Trace, Madden, Cyla, Jerico, and Tyler. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Cora (Smitherman) Hauser; husband, Kenny Strand; son, Charles Lee Strand; brothers, George Hauser and Thomas Hauser; and sister, Mary Miller. Visitation will be Monday from 2 to 7 PM at McCalley Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 PM. Memorials may be directed to her family for a future designation.
