Greg Tully was born August 16, 1984 in Des Moines, Iowa to John and Connie Tully and was raised in Johnston. Greg passed away August 11, 2023 at the age of 38.
During high school Greg met the love of his life, Brandi Wylie. They made their home in Madrid, Iowa where they raised their two sons, Gage and Jaden. Greg and Brandi were united in marriage February 9, 2008. Brandi passed away suddenly in 2021. He was devastated by the loss of his life-long soulmate.
Greg worked at Casey's in Madrid for many years, Beaverdale Gutter, and most recently with his uncle Richie in Madrid doing home improvement projects.
Greg loved fishing, catching his own bait and especially night fishing. He enjoyed playing pool, mostly with his brother and sister. He liked relaxing bike rides and often chose that as a way to get from point A to point B. Growing plants became a new passion of his. With no formal training he was quite the handyman and took pride in any project he took on. Creating gifts out of wood, learning all the ways to paint, stain and finish projects, and learning the craft of wood working brought him pleasure.
Greg had a heart filled with compassion and would do anything to help anyone. If you were having an off day or feeling a little down, he could lift your spirits and make you laugh at the drop of a dime.
His family was everything to him. He will forever be missed by his sons, Gage and Jaden; mother, Connie; sister, Anjy (Avis); brother, Jay (Kim); and half-brother Brad (Stephanie). Other survivors include father-in-law Chuck (Marla); brother-in-law, Chuck II (Melanie); along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Brandi; father, John; mother-in-law Deb; maternal grandparents, Roger and Sally Harrison; and paternal grandparents, Ernest and Francis Tully.
A celebration of life will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home in Urbandale. Burial will follow in the Hopkins Grove Cemetery near Madrid.
