Gregory Lee Mcmain

Greg, age 64, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, IA after a courageous battle with cancer. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 4:00 – 7:00 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory in Urbandale, IA. He was born May 9, 1953 in Des Moines, IA to James D and Lois (Green) McMain. Greg was a graduate of Saydel High School in 1971. Greg managed several restaurants and Jet Photo Plus. Greg was passionate about golf and loved spending time on the golf course with his brother Randy. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and loved playing the slots at Prairie Meadows. Greg was a loving and devoted son, brother, and father to his family. His sense of humor and wisdom will be greatly missed. Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Lois McMain of Ankeny, IA; daughter, Amanda Williams of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Luke and Mya Williams; brother, Randy (Sue) McMain of Altoona, IA; sister, Shari McMain of Ankeny, IA; nephew, Bret McMain (Tania) of Des Moines, IA; special friend, Susan Dunsky of Des Moines, IA; and many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, James McMain; and his favorite dogs, Divot and Gizmo. The family extends a heartful thanks to the staff of Mercy Hospice in Johnston for the wonderful care and compassion they provided Greg in his final days. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
