Gudrun "Goodie" Marion Norgart, daughter of Gudburg "Bogga" Thorstenson and Einar Thorlacius, was born August 28, 1925 at Edinburgh, North Dakota, and died October 29, 2008 at the Perry Lutheran Home in Perry, Iowa, at the age of 83 years, 2 months and 1 day. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2008 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry, Iowa. Words of comfort were by Rev. Max Phillips from the Christ Lutheran Church in Bouton, Iowa. Honorary casket bearers included Kyla Wilson, Christina McAfee, Stephanie Smith, Michelle Banks, Kortni Norgart, Geneen Hilsenbeck, Shawna Hensley, Shaleah Donovan, Briena Bennett, and Liberty Norgart. Casket bearers were Jeffrey Lewis, Jeremy Pohl, Dan Launderville, Evan Kelly Creese, Phillip Creese, Josef Tolle, Nicholas Tolle, Tyler Norgart, Ren Norgart, Cody Norgart, Joshua Norgart, and Kyle Banks. Organist was Virginia White, and Dave Menz was the soloist. Hymns were In The Garden, Amazing Grace, and The Old Rugged Cross. Interment was in the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, Iowa. Everyone was invited to the Christ Lutheran Church in Bouton for lunch and fellowship following the service at the cemetery. "Goodie" as she was lovingly known, attended school in Edinburgh and attended the Lutheran Church. She was united in marriage with Elmer Holdorf Norgart on March 15, 1942 in Mountain, North Dakota in the Lutheran Church. Elmer and Goodie had celebrated 66 years of marriage. They were the proud parents of ten children: Gerry, Danny, Evie, Elmer Jr., Jeanette, Duane, Marie, Kathy, Becky, and David. The family lived in North Dakota in the communities of Crystal, Fordville, and Devils Lake. Gerry, Danny, and Elmer Jr. tragically died in a house fire while they lived in Edinburgh, North Dakota. In 1962, they moved to Perry. Goodie was active in Trinity Lutheran Church. She worked at the Lutheran Home and for years was a clerk at Places, retiring in 1987. Goodie's main love was her family. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family fondly remembers stories of them rollerskating the night they met. As Goodie and Elmer were friendly and outgoing, they enjoyed going gambling and spent many anniversaries at Tama. In addition to her three children who died in 1949, she was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Harlan and Harley Thorlacius and sister Ruth Weber; grandson Evan Kelly Creese in 1979 and granddaughter Kyla Wilson October 21, 2000. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Elmer; 2 sons: Duane and wife Dawn of Guthrie Center; David and wife Elaine of Spencer; 5 daughters: Evie Launderville and husband Jerry of Ogden; Jeanette Lewis of Perry; Marie Pohl and husband Jim of Perry; Kathy Creese and significant other Tony of Jefferson; and Becky Norgart and significant other Sam of Perry. Goodie is also survived by her 21 grandchildren: Jeff Lewis ; Jeremy Pohl; Dan Launderville; Phillip Creese; Joseph Tolle and wife Stacey; Nicholas Tolle and wife Mel; Tyler Norgart; Ren Norgart and significant other Liz ; Cody Norgart; Joshua Norgart; Michelle Banks and husband Kyle; Christina McAfee and husband Clint; Stephanie Smith; Kortni Norgart; Geneen Hilsenbeck and husband Mike; Shawna Hensley and husband Joe; Shaleah Donavon and husband Robbie; Breanne Bennett ; and Liberty Norgart; 21 great grandchildren: sisters-in-law Ethel Thorlacius of Stephen, Minnesota; Bonnie Ouhl and husband Stan of Cavalier, North Dakota; Rose Norgart and Lois Norgart of Jefferson; brothers-in-law Leonard Norgart of International Falls, Minnesota; and George Morden of Cavalier, North Dakota; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
