January 1, 1974 — January 6, 2015

Gwen Marie (Hill) Heath of West Des Moines, Iowa, was born to Revs. Arthur L. Hill and Edythe J. (Nichols) Hill on August 16, 1974, in Harlan, Iowa. She departed this life on January 6th, 2015, after a prolonged illness. Gwen attended kindergarten through 8th grade at YJB Community Schools in Yale and Bagley, Iowa, and attended high school at Clinton High School in Clinton, Iowa, where she graduated with the class of 1992. She attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and the American Institute of Business in Des Moines, Iowa. Gwen worked in various jobs throughout her adult life, including working as a legal secretary, working at Wittern Group in Des Moines, and most recently, working for Wells Fargo in Des Moines. Gwen was an avid reader, and enjoyed both print books and audiobooks. She made frequent use of the Des Moines and Urbandale libraries, and loved to share books with her friends and family members. She was a wonderful cook, and particularly enjoyed baking for others. She often took baked goods in to work, and always had a new dessert to share at family get-togethers. Gwen had a quiet, kind, and generous soul. She was very private, but loved deeply and with great loyalty. One of her favorite activities was to attend Renaissance Festivals throughout the Midwest in costume, along with her family members and her closest friends, Jason Kreighbaum and Lannia Stenz. Preceding Gwen in death were her grandparents, Clarence and Mabel (Stine) Hill and Merrill and Gladys (Hansen) Nichols; her uncle, Lee Nichols; and her cousin, Erin Hill. Those left to mourn her passing are her parents, Arthur and Edythe Hill of Indianola, Iowa; her brother, Lee Hill, of Des Moines, Iowa; her sister, Angela (Hill) Carson and husband, David, and her nephews, Matthew and Justin Carson, of Mackinaw, Illinois; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Memorials may be directed to the Des Moines Public Library, the Urbandale Public Library, or Gilda's Club Madison, a cancer support community. Service: 2:00 P.M.
