Gwendolyn 'Tillie' Lindberg

March 30, 1911 — January 29, 2007

Visitation: Tillie will be cremated and there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Tillie is survived by her nephews, Larry Thorpe and family of Belize Central America; Lee Wenger of Winterset; a great niece, Kelly Wenger-Hans of Johnston and a great great niece and nephew, MeKenzie and Zaxston Hans of Johnston. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Swede and a sister, Dorothy Peterson. Tillie was born on March 30, 1911, the daughter of Robert and Florence LaBron. Her marriage to Alvar ‘Swede’ Lindberg took place on an airplane above Storm Lake, Iowa on August 13, 1933. He preceded her in death in June of 1993. Tillie and Swede ran Lindy’s Motel in Winterset for over 35 years and she was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church. She lived in Winterset for 62 years. Service: The family asks that memorials be directed to the First United Presbyterian Church of Winterset. Memorial: Winterset Cemetery, Winterset, Iowa at a later date.
