Harold L. Drake, 89, of Bondurant, IA formerly of Indianola, IA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Thursday, January 23, 2025 at Courtyard Estates at Hawthorne Crossing in Bondurant. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.caldwellparrish.com
Harold was born to Carl Drake and Ella Howe in Des Moines, IA on August 12, 1935. Harold, and his wife, Edith had celebrated 59 years of marriage before her passing on November 8, 2024. Together, they were self employed and created their own business called Toys-N-Things. They also had Heartland Mini Railroad, which you could find at the Farmers Market in Downtown Des Moines, IA. Harold and Edith were very devoted to their faith as Jehovah’s Witnesses, they helped numerous people learn about the Bible. You could find Harold and Edith enjoying fishing, camping, traveling and spending time with family. Harold could always be seen wearing his favorite denim bib overalls, and will be fondly remembered as a practical joker. His incredible sense of humor will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
Harold is survived by his three children, Christine (Juan) Ramirez of St. Paul, MN, Steve (Cindy) Speck of Indianola, IA, and Rick (Diana) Drake of Altoona, IA; Seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; two brothers, Robert Price of Des Moines, IA, and Richard De Camp of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
