A Mass of Christian Burial was held for Harold Farley Sr. 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 13, 2011 at St Patrick Catholic Church in Perry, Iowa and a Vigil Service was held 7:00 p.m. October 12, 2011 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Concelebrants were Father David Polich and Father Eugene Koch. The casket bearers were Christopher Farley, Scott Miller, David Dickson, Dale Colbert, Todd Peitzman, Drew Keith, Jake Peitzman, and John Finneseth. The Lectors were Angela Farley and Myrna Smith. Petitions were read by Megan Darnell and the Gift Bearers were Kayli and McKenzie Colbert and Paige Peitzman. Eucharist ministers were Ron Brown, Joan Klima, and Dorothy Tiernan and the Ushers were Don Stracke, Gene Peel and John Splendore. Music was provided by Jan Patee and David Menz. Interment was at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry. A lunch was hosted by the Regina Guld and served at the Elks Lodge in Perry following the burial at the cemetery. Harold Lloyd Farley Sr. son of Albert Harold Farley and Myra Mae Pennington Farley, was born November 2, 1927 north of Angus, Iowa and died October 10, 2011 at the Rowley Memorial Masonic Home in Perry, Iowa. Harold was 83 years old. Harold lived on a farm south of Rippey and graduated from Rippey High School in 1945. Harold and Mary Jane Fries were wed on July 29, 1946 at St Patrick Catholic Church in Perry. They lived in Perry for three years and then moved to their present farm north of Perry. He loved farming. Harold and Mary square danced for many years with the Star Promenaders. Harold also enjoyed wood working and spending time with his grandkids. He was a former member of the Elks, Farmers Union, Farm Bureau, Parish Council, and Knights of Columbus. Harold was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Donna Farley Doidge. Harold is survived by his wife of 65 years Mary, son Harold Farley Jr. and wife Angie of rural Perry, and daughter Diana Miller and husband Ron of Buffalo, Missouri, eight grandchildren: Chris (Kelli) Farley of Wichita, KS; Julie Darnell of Buffalo, MO; Gayle (Dale) Colbert of Roland, IA; Scott (Kami) Miller of Buffalo, MO; Tina (Todd) Peitzman of Perry, IA; Christy (David) Dickson of Green Valley, MO; Susan (Drew) Keith of Buffalo, MO; and Debbie (Scott) Daniels of Monrovia, CA; and 20 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Doris Mitchell and husband Jeffrey of Florida, Aunt Bernita Farley of Ladysmith, WI; and other relatives and many friends. www.hastingsfh.com
