Harold M. 'Hal' Butzloff - Clive

Harold M. Butzloff was born in Chicago, IL. on November 21, 1930, the son of Harold Butzloff, Sr. and Hazel Thornburg Butzloff. He died Tuesday, November 5th at his home. At age 8, the family moved to Mansfield, Ohio, where he grew up. He attended Northwestern University, and obtained a degree in Mechanical Engineering. On June 13, 1953, he married Barbara Jane Helfenstein of Pekin, IL. They enjoyed 46 years of marriage prior to her passing on June 9, 1999. After graduation from college, he spent 2 years in the Army as an electronics repairman. His life-long employment was with Westinghouse Electric Corporation, and he retired after 46 years service with that firm. He has lived in the Dallas County area since 1967. Hal enjoyed lap swimming at the "Y", working in his yard, woodworking, coin collecting, studying genealogy, and his association with members of the Des Moines Engineers Club where he was a past president, the IEEE, Des Moines Scottish Rite Consistory, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, Waveland Park and Westgate-Adelphic Masonic Lodges in Windsor Heights, and Cornerstone Lodge in Fergus Falls, MN. He was a 50 year member and Past Master of both Waveland Park and Cornerstone Lodges. Hal is survived by a son, Stephen of Ankeny; a daughter, Sarah Jane (Phillip) Nicholson of Clive; and 3 grandchildren - David, Matthew and Barbara Nicholson. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Roberta Foster of Carmel, IN, and Jean Kouba of Wyoming, IA; and a son, William. Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM Friday, November 8, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Waukee. Graveside Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin, IL. Friends may call after 2 PM Thursday, November 7, 2013 at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel, where family will greet friends from 5 to 7 PM, with Masonic Rites open to all at 7 PM. Memorial Contributions made be made to Rowley Masonic Home in Perry or The Waukee United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be left at this site.
