Harold William "Mick" McDevitt, son of William Henry McDevitt and Daisy Bell Hill McDevitt was born February 4, 1929 in Perry, Iowa, and died January 6, 2005 at his home in Perry, Iowa at the age of 75 years, 11 months and 2 days. Mick grew up in Perry, Iowa and graduated from St. Patrick High School with the Class of 1949. On June 25, 1951, Mick was united in marriage to Avis Marie Cline at the Sacred Heart Church in Boone, Iowa. The family made their home in Perry with the exception of living in Atlanta, Georgia for a time while Mick served in the military during the Korean War. They were the parents of six children: Therese, Suzan, Patrick, Shannon, Timothy and Michael. Mick was a milkman for over thirty years, working for both Highland Dairy and Roberts Dairy. Mick loved the outdoors, spending time hunting, golfing, boating and camping. Mick and Avis also enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Mick was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus 3rd & 4th Degree. Mick was preceded in death by his parents, sister LaVonne Wood, brother Donald McDevitt, and son-in-law Wayne Wilkinson. He is survived by his wife Avis of Perry; daughters: Therese Wilkinson of Manitou Springs, Colorado, Suzan Ryberg and her husband Randy of Vista, California, and Shannon Schuhardt and her husband Randy of Perry, Iowa; sons: Patrick McDevitt and his wife Maria of Las Vegas, Nevada, Timothy McDevitt and his wife Sheri of Laughlin, Nevada, and Michael McDevitt and his wife Kimberly of Gilbert, Arizona; 16 grandchildren: Matthew, Melissa, Zach, Jennifer, Jeremy, Kyle, Jake, Alina, Tessa, Jana, Sara, Brittany, Stefanie, Britanie, Neco, and Fransisco; five great-grandchildren: Abigail, Raina, Patrick, Maleah and Anthony; other relatives and many, many friends.
