Harry Benge - Winterset

Harry H. Benge, 83, of Norwalk, Iowa (formerly of Winterset), died Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services were held 10:00 AM Saturday, June 22, 2013, at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with Rev. Bill Branson officiating. Burial was in the Winterset Cemetery. Harry was born on February 19, 1930, at Madison County, Iowa to Harlan and Mabel (Allen) Benge. He had been a lifetime resident of Winterset until moving into the nursing home in Norwalk. Harry had been a laborer around the Winterset area. He had been previously married to Fannie Margaret Faux. To this marriage were born three children. Harry is survived by his sons, Michael Benge of Norwalk and Mark (Sarah) Benge of Norwalk; daughter, Kelly Jo (Brad) Bartolac of Kaukauna, WS; brothers, Herbert Benge, William Benge, and Delbert Benge; sisters, Eileen Long, Gloria Stanley, Shirley Lewis, Eleanor Rhoads, Victoria Murra, and Mary Thornburg; and grandchildren, Brody Benge, Madeline Benge, Christopher Dunmire, and Logan Bartolac. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harlan and Mabel (Allen) Benge; and sisters, Emily Coghlan and Ethel Berry. Memorials may be given to his family for a future designation.
