Hazel Ilene Barie

Hazel Ilene Barie, age 96, of Adel passed away peacefully on May 23, 2016, at Wesley Acres in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel with burial at Oakdale Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Hazel was born in Spencer on November 4, 1919. She was preceded in death by parents Louis and Leva Barie, brothers Carl and Donald Barie, sister Ruby Benz, and nephew Jerry Benz. She is survived by niece Carole Benz, grand-nephew Mike (Nancy) Benz and their children Scott and Craig, grand-niece Rebecca (Karl Narveson) Benz and their children Sophia and Solveig, and cousin Janice Larson. Memorial contributions may be directed to Adel Assisted Living. The family would like to thank the staffs of Adel Assisted Living and Wesley Acres for the care they gave Hazel.
