Hazel L. Lyddon

February 17, 1911 — March 26, 2004

Hazel was born February 17, 1911 in Desoto, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Nellie (Hodson) Chapman. She graduated from Earlham High School in 1930 and her marriage to Raymond Wayne Lyddon took place on March 12, 1932 in Missouri. He preceded her in death on July 14, 2002. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wayne, and two sisters, Dorothy Chase and Darlene Prior. A lifelong area resident, Hazel spent most of her life as a homemaker and farm wife and was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church. She is survived by her two sons, Marvin Lyddon and wife, Chrys of Chaska, Minnesota and Richard Lyddon and wife, Pat of Montezuma, Iowa; two daughters, Darlene Shoff and husband, Jerry of Livingston, Montana, and Marilyn Day and husband, Neal of Earlham, Iowa; one brother, Harold Chapman and wife, LaRae of Johnston, Iowa and one sister, Velma Plaine of Panora, Iowa; 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation: 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday where family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. March 28, 2004 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare, Winterset, Iowa Service: 10:00 a.m., Monday March 29, 2004 at First Baptist Church, Winterset, Iowa Memorial: Memorial contributions may be directed to Madison County Health Trust or the Primitive Baptist Church, both of Winterset.
