Hazel Lucille '"Auntie"' Johnson

Hazel Lucille (Mishler) Johnson, 96 of Adel passed away Wednesday March 21, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2018 at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel with burial immediately following at Oakdale Cemetery in Adel. Family will greet friends from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Hazel was born September 15, 1921 in the rural Dallas County home of her parents, Robert and Gertrude (Pearson) Mishler. She attended county school and grew up in the same area. Hazel retired in 1983 from Northwestern Bell with over thirty-two years of faithful service. She received recognition for her perfect attendance record and this work ethic reflected in everything she did. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and attended many Bell retiree luncheons throughout the years. “Auntie”, as many of her nieces, nephews and friends called her, enjoyed growing vegetables and flowers, trips to Branson, MO, and feeding the birds and squirrels in her yard. She loved her family, friends and the company of three different Yorkshire terriers she had over the years. Hazel’s legacy will continue on in the hearts of the nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly, Lonnie (Jana) Mishler, Susan Kern and Daniel (Natalie) Felt along with numerous great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved son, K. “Roger” Johnson, and her siblings, Charles Mishler and Patricia Felt.
