Helen Bailey - Adel

Helen, 90, of Adel passed away peacefully Sat. June 7, 2014 at Adel Acres in Adel. Helen has been cremated and Memorial Services will be 2:30 PM Friday, June 20th at the United Methodist Church in Adel. She was born Helen Bernice Thornburg on September 16, 1923 north of Menlo, Iowa to Donald E. Thornburg and Mary Gladys Oaks. She graduated from Menlo High School and later AIB in Des Moines. She married Ronald W. Bailey on November 16, 1946 and had one son. Helen worked several secretarial jobs during her working career. She retired in 1991. Helen was a member of the Adel Methodist Church where she served as pianist and organist for many years. Her many interests included gardening, reading, knitting and needlepoint. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 40 years, and three brothers Verne, Royce and Bob Thornburg. Helen is survived by her son Craig Bailey of Shawnee, KS, two grandchildren and three great grandsons. Memorial contributions may be made to the music fund of her church.
