Helen P. (Smith) Farlin

Helen was born July 22, 1917 on a farm near Lorimor, Iowa. She is the daughter of Charles and Veva (Neely) Smith. She attended New Hope #3 grade school and graduated from Lorimor High School. Helen is survived by a brother, Wesley Smith and his wife, Norma of Lorimor; a sister-in-law, Leona Farlin Carlson; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth in 1987; a sister, Olive Smith; and three brothers, Floyd, Dale, and Stanley. Her marriage to Kenneth Farlin took place on May 14, 1939 in Winterset, Iowa. During their life together, Kenneth farmed, built fence and worked at Merideth Pub. Helen stayed at home on the farm helping Kenneth with the chores and gardening vegetables and flowers. She enjoyed doing things for other people. Helen died Monday, June 25, 2007, at the Winterset Care Center South. She was 89.
