Helen (Radakovich) Riser

Helen was born November 16, 1912 in Earlham, IA to Pera ‘Pauline’ (Riberich) and Trivun ‘Mike’ Radakovich, who had immigrated to America from Serbia in 1906. They lived on a farm south of Earlham. She was one of 13 children, in addition having 2 half-brothers in Serbia and a half-sister in Wyoming. Helen attended school in Earlham, IA and graduated from Earlham High School in 1932, where she participated in girl reserves, girl’s chorus, cheerleading, played tennis, and was Captain of the Girl’s Basketball Team, where she played varsity forward for 4 years. Once her basketball team won a game 2-0 and she scored both points. Visitation: Noon to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., September 15, 2005 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. Service: 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 16, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset, with a luncheon to be held in the church fellowship hall immediately following. Memorial: Memorial contributions may be directed to the First United Methodist Church of Winterset.
