Howard 'Hank Coffin - Adel

Howard Frank (Hank) Coffin of Adel died Sunday May 10 at age 92. Friends may call from 5-7 P.M. Thursday, May 14 at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel. Memorial Services will be announced at a later date. The body was cremated and a private family burial will be at Panther Creek Cemetery near Adel. Howard was the son of Virgil and Marvel Coffin and was born in Dallas County southwest of Adel on February 8, 1923. Howard was a farm hand for many years before working 19 years at Adel Grain Elevator and retiring after 22 years at Des Moines Golf and Country Club. Howard is survived by his wife of 72 years, Betty (Boren); daughter, Carolyn Cooley; sons, Darrell (Vi) and Francis (Sandy) Coffin; grandchildren: Terri Cooley, Patty (Rocky) Boyd, Sherrie Lindahl, Scott (Diane) Dunbar, Mychelle Wahlert (Dave College), Tristram Coffin, Mathew (Stacy) Coffin, Aaron (Juli) Applegate, and Mandi (Brett) O'Loughlin and 23 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and three sisters. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Hospice. Online condolences may be left at this site.
