Ida Grose Smith

Ida was born March 14, 1915 in Dallas County, Iowa, the daughter of Elbert ‘Carver’ and Bertha M. (Smith) Smith. She married Rosco Grose and was later married to Cal Smith. Ida is survived by her son, Ron Grose and wife, Caroline of Macksburg; a daughter Sandra Brown and husband, Mark of Macksburg; a son-in-law, George Bown of Winterset; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rosco and husband, Cal; a daughter Marilyn Bown; two sisters, Cora Eichner and Clara Zuck; and two brothers, Harry J. Smith and an infant brother. She was a member of the Worthington United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed cooking and raising a vegetable garden. She was an excellent cook and her grandkids always commented on her ‘oodles of noodles’. Ida died Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at the Madison County Health Care System. She was 94. Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 2009 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare, with family present to receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Service: 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 3, 2009 at the Worthington United Methodist Church. Memorial: Memorials may be directed to the Worthington United Methodist Church.
