Ila M. Jackson, 97, of Winterset, died Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at West Bridge Care and Rehab in Winterset. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 23, at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset, where family will be present to receive friends at this time. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 24, at Ochiltree Funeral Service with burial to follow in the Winterset Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for later distribution. Ila Mae Hendrickson, daughter of Edward and Theo (Holmes) Hendrickson, was born May 27, 1919 in Madison County, Iowa. She graduated from Peru High School and was united in marriage with Ralph Jackson on July 2, 1937, in Creston, Iowa. Ila worked as a nurses aide for a few years but primarily helped Ralph with the farm and raising the boys. She gardened and canned the produce and had a real passion for her flowers. Ila enjoyed bird watching and always kept her bird feeders full. She was a talented cook and baker. Ralph and Ila enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling together and were snowbirds that spent winters in Arizona. Ila cherished the time she had with her children and grandchildren. Ila is survived by her two sons, Billy W. (Lucy) Jackson of Greenfield, Jerry D. Jackson of Peru; eight grandchildren, Derek Jackson, Dan (Alysha) Jackson, Brian Jackson, Phillip (Kelly) Eggers, Matthew (Angie) Eggers, Krystal (Jimmy) Jackson-Price, Annette (Brad) Tiarks, Carmen (Vance) Riley; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Ruby and Marjorie; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in by her parents; husband, Ralph; three brothers, Doyle, Gerald and Tony Hendrickson; great-grandson, Travis Jackson.
