Iram Lucille Henry

May 7, 1910 — September 10, 2007

Irma Lucille Henry, daughter of Robert Fulton Timmons and Viva Almeda Weigel Timmons was born on her parents' farm May 7, 1910 near Guthrie Center, Iowa and died September 10, 2007 at Perry Health Care, Perry, Iowa, at the age of 97 years, 4 months and 3 days. Irma grew up on the family farm along with her brother Eldon and three sisters: Edna, Georgia, and Gertrude. She attended the small Union Township Country School near their home. Irma later moved into Coon Rapids where she attended school through the 11th grade. She left school to work at Jensen's Creamery and was there several years. Irma moved to Audubon where she worked in different restaurants as a waitress and later as a cook. On August 29, 1970 she married Harry Henry in Guthrie Center. The couple lived in Perry before moving to Dawson in the early 1980's. She continued to work, putting her love of cooking into practice. She had managed and cooked at the Perry Sale Barn worked for 6 years and also in the Dietary Department at Woodward State Hospital School, retiring in 1975 after working 13 years. Irma loved to garden and had a beautiful yard with many lovely flowers. Summertime was always busy because with such a big garden, there were always fruits and vegetables to can and she did enjoy canning! When wild gooseberries, raspberries, and plums were in season, you could find Irma "hunting" them. Harry and Irma shared a love for camping and especially fishing, enjoying spending time together at High Lake, Ingham Lake, and Spirit Lake. Harry died on January 28, 1996 and Irma moved to the Perry Senior apartments a year after his death. Even though Irma wasn't able to have her beautiful garden, she continued to grow great tomatoes. She liked to crochet when she had time. Irma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harry; brother Eldon Timmons; and 3 sisters: Edna Jacobson; Georgia Nelsen and Gertrude Kirk. She is survived by a step- son Edwin Henry and his wife Maradee of Des Moines, Iowa; step-daughter Jackie Langford of Grand Junction, Iowa; one nephew Louis Kirk and wife Fran of Adel, Iowa; and nieces: Ruth Schuhardt and husband Leland of Perry, Iowa; Carol Jean Kalleson of Audubon, Iowa; Cindy Hester and husband Eldon of Panora, Iowa; Sharon Merical and husband Jerry of Jamaica, Iowa; Mickey Coffman and husband Ray of Panora, Iowa; Lisa Brooks of Coon Rapids, Iowa; other relatives and friends including Jerry and Francie Lee of Dawson, Iowa, who cared for her for many years.
