Irene Lavonne (Harper) Followwill

Irene was born in Dallas County near Perry, Iowa on July 5, 1920, the daughter of Clyde and Elvia (Burrell) Harper. She graduated from Perry High School, Perry, Iowa in 1937 and went on to marry Charles Jacob Followwill on June 22, 1939 in Lancaster, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Carl Joseph Followwill; a son-in-law; Charles Crawford; a grandson, Alan Lance Followwill; a granddaughter, Charlotte Crawford; and three brothers, Fred, Howard and Perry Robert Harper. She was a homemaker and Christian mother to her seven children. Not only did she care for her own children, but also, she provided child care to many friends and neighbors in and around St. Charles. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Martensdale and she enjoyed reading, sewing and visiting with family and friends. She is survived by her five daughters, Aretta Mae Graeve and husband, Don of Adel; Oda LaVonne Van Winkle and husband, David of Kerville, TX; Norma Charlene Adams and husband, Frank of LaGrange, TX; Glenda Rose Crawford of Temple, TX; and Mary Belle Hill and husband, Don of Norwalk; one son, Charles David Followwill and wife, Carole of Emporia, KS; 14 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She also leaves a sister, Arlene E. Lapcheske of Des Moines; a brother, Charles Harper and wife, Caryl of Patterson; a sister-in-law, Vivian Harper of West Des Moines; many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
