Ivan Roy Roberts was born March 5, 1926 to John Ira and Mary Alice (Rudolf) Roberts on the family farm in Adair County. He was a 1944 graduate of Dexter High School and later served his country in the United States Army in Koreaduring the Korean Conflict. Survivors include his brother, Claude Roberts of Dexter; his two sisters, Cora Slight and her husband, Audra of Dexter; Alice Luhrs and her husband, Dean of Casey; a brother-in-law, Darrell Jensen and his wife, Wilda of Urbandale; an uncle, Eugene Rudolf and his wife, Ruth of Des Moines; 12 nieces and nephews and many great and great great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Violet Jensen. Ivan was a farmer all of his life working with his brother Claude on the farm his family settled in 1849. Ivan witnessed the honor of his family farm being placed on the registry of Iowa’s Century farms, as well as the distinction of being a Heritage farm having been in the same family for more than 150 years. Ivan was a member of the Farm Bureau and the American Legion of Greenfield. Visitation: 1 to 7 p.m, Monday; where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. December 8, 2008 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare, Winterset.
