Jack Eugene Long of De Soto, Iowa was born in Coalfield, Iowa on December 4, 1931, to Charles and Zella (Duffy) Long. He left this world on June 6, 2016 in Des Moines, Iowa surrounded by his family, with his love for music evident through the song of a cardinal calling him to lead his path to heaven. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2016 at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel with burial at Otterman Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time. He was married to Dolores Barker on November 19, 1950. They were blessed with 5 children; DeAnn (Chuck) Bandy – Adel, Deb (Denny ) Kolk – Adel, Jim (Tammie) Long – Bennington, NE, Jodi (Mike) Draisey – Adel and Jeff (Stephanie) Long – Des Moines. They also had 14 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Granddaughters. Along with his family, his passion was his music. Playing in bands over the years and enjoying 15 years of his retirement playing and singing with his new friends in Arizona. He was 3 Fingered Jack to all that knew him there and leaves behind the legacy of his music. He is survived by his wife, all of his children and Grandchildren and his brother, Homer Long of Dallas, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 Brothers and 2 Sisters, his Mother-in-law and Father-in-law, Grandson-in-law and other extended family members. Distribution of Memorial Contributions in his Honor will be determined by his family. Online condolences may be left on this site.
