On April 6, 2025, Jack Lee Frantum, age 82, joined his daughter, Dawn Lynn (Frantum) Harl, in heaven. He passed away at Perry Lutheran Home, where he had been a resident since March 2016.
Jack was an only child, born on January 19, 1943, in Perry, Iowa, to John Kenneth (Jack) Frantum and Helen Louise (Robbins) Frantum. He attended school in Perry and graduated from Perry High School. He met his wife, Edith, in 1973, and they were married on May 1, 1977. Jack was a member of the Iowa National Guard Detachment in Perry. He loved stock car racing, camping, and his grandchildren.
Jack was a longtime Perry resident and took over his father’s business, Jack Frantum Roofing and Insulation. After closing the business, he went to work for Gold Meadow and Frito-Lay. The grandkids loved this, as he always had single-serve ice cream cups in the freezer.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Dawn, who passed away on December 6, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Edith; three children from a previous marriage: Kevin (Kimberly) Frantum of Hawley, TX, Kellee (Lawrence) Jindra of Omaha, NE, and Genifer (Ethan) Herb of Omaha, NE; two stepsons, Preston Coston and Steven Coston; 11 grandchildren: Nicole, Kerri (Derrick), Blake, Andrew (Stephanie), Brianna (Jonathan), Lauren (Derek), Dean, Cole, Riley, Jaimee (Brad), DeaAnna, and Makayla; step-grandchildren Kiara Coston and Kody Coston; and 11 great-grandchildren.
