A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 18th at the St. Patrick Irish Settlement Church near Cumming. A visitation will be held 1 to 8 p.m., Friday, February 17th at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset, where family will be present to receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. A Rosary will be said immediately following the visitation. Burial will be in the St. Patrick Irish Settlement Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Jack Hanrahan was born March 23, 1944 in Des Moines, Iowa; the son of Andrew and Louise (Brownrigg) Hanrahan. He graduated from Martensdale High School in 1962 and later served in the Army National Guard. He married Linda Pettit on November 23, 1968 at the St. Patrick Irish Settlement Church. Jack farmed all of his life, and in 1988, he established J and L Custom Fence. He was a member of the St. Patrick Irish Settlement Church. He was also a member of the Madison County Pork Producers, served on the Farm Service Board of Directors, and served as a Trustee for the Madison County Zoning Commission. Jack enjoyed collecting toy tractors, blacksmithing, and black powder shooting. He also liked storytelling and telling jokes. Jack especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, attending their sporting events and 4H activities. Jack died Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at his home. He was 67. Jack is survived by his wife, Linda Hanrahan of Prole; his six children, John (Rebecka) Hanrahan of Shreveport, LA; Phil (Traci) Hanrahan of St. Charles; Mark (Amy) Hanrahan of Prole; Susan (Jeff) Thompson of St. Charles; Andi (Craig) Petersen of St. Charles; Ryan (Melissa) Hanrahan of Prole; 13 grandchildren (Nick, Alex and Zack Hanrahan; Jack, Brodey and Grace Hanrahan; Jessica Hanrahan; Garrett, Lance and Brock Thompson; Andrew, Lanie and Lilly Petersen); a brother, Richard; and a sister, Mary Alice. He was preceded in death by his parents; his uncle John Hanrahan; and aunt Bridgetta Hanrahan.
