The visitation for Mrs. Stephenson-Carey has been postponed, due to the weather, until Friday, December 11, 2009. Jackie will be cremated following the visitation and there will be no funeral service. Jackie is survived by her nine children, Gayle (Henry) Kibbe of Peru, Lorna Stephenson of Pleasant Hill, Utonda 'Toni' (Dan) Waltz of Winterset, Gene (Nancy) Stephenson of Winterset, Wade (Becky) Porter of Winterset, Beth (Bud) Lenz of North Sioux City, SD, Ryan (Nancy) Stephenson of Osceola, Shana (Phil) Smith of Osceola, Eric (Rose) Stephenson of Truro; a sister, Rosemary (Jack) Burkhead of MO; 27 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, John Stephenson and Charles Carey and one brother, Chancey Black. Jaquelynn Jaynne Black was born September 22, 1926 in Madison County, Iowa to F. Glenn and Mary (Miller) Black. She attended country school at Scott Center and attended high school in Winterset graduating in the class of 1944. Jackie was married to John Stephenson and later Charles Carey; they both preceded her in death. Before Jackie had children she worked as a CNA at the Madison County Hospital and once she began raising her family she stayed at home as a mother and farmwife. Jackie was also very athletic, playing softball in Peru for many years and will be remembered as a very good pitcher. Jackie was a member of the Peru United Methodist Church where she was active over the years in many activities. She was also a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and was involved with the Democratic Party, attending many meetings and volunteering at voting precincts as well as being a long-time member of the Peru Chit Chat Club and a girls 4-H leader for Walnut Township. Jackie also loved NASCAR, especially 'Her Dale' as she lovingly referred to Dale Earnhardt Jr. She also enjoyed collecting and making dolls and teddy bears, which she would make from old clothing. Visitation: Peru Cemetery at a later date, Peru, Iowa. Service: Memorials may be directed to the Peru United Methodist Church in Peru. Memorial: Noon to 8:00 p.m., Friday, where family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., December 11, 2009 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare, Winterset, Iowa
