James C. Murphy

James C. Murphy, 87, passed away on 7/6/2021 at Mercy Hospital. The body will be cremated and the cremains will be interned at a later date. James was born in Des Moines to Nina (Clark) and Everett Murphy on June 19, 1934 and graduated from Dowling High School in 1952. He was employed 48 years at Library Binding Service/Corporate Image, working in many different departments in the graphic industry, retiring as a computer graphics technician and Crossfield scanner operator. James was an avid photographer who enjoyed nature and wildlife through his photography. He also researched his family genealogy through many lines. James was the last of nine children, four sisters; Genevieve, Irene, Pearl (Wilbur Hargrave) and Mary (Ellsworth Speed) four brothers; Patrick, Paul (Rita), John (Billie) and Edward (Margaret). James and Mary (Mulleneaux) were united in marriage for 43 years. One daughter, Daenna Newkirk and son, Steven Murphy (Melissa), both of the Des Moines area, one grandchild, Olivia, and many nieces and nephews.
