James (Jim) Michael Stajcar, age 72, of Adel, passed away on Friday, November 5, 2021, at Unity Point Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 12, 2021, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Adel. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Adel. Family will greet friends Thursday, November 11, 2021, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home – McCalley Chapel in Adel. Jim was born on August 3, 1949, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Matthew and Opal (Merical) Stajcar. He married Nicki (Shinn) Stajcar on May 6, 1972. They enjoyed 49 years together. The first 15 years of Jim’s life were spent living on his family’s farm located southwest of Dallas Center, Iowa. Jim had fond memories of the farm and often reminised about his love of his farm life with his family. Upon his father’s death in 1965, Jim and his family moved off the farm to Adel, Iowa. Following high school graduation from Adel – DeSoto high school, he worked for a lumber company in Johnston, Iowa. In 1977, Jim went to work at Iowa Power (MidAmerica Energy), and worked in several jobs there. He loved his work on the line crews, and the special bonds he made with his co-workers. Jim retired after 30 years employment with Iowa Power. Jim was a hard worker, and applied that hard work and dedication to all of the tasks he did at work, at home and helping others. Jim is survived by his wife, Nicki; brothers, Ron (Gay Lynn) of Minburn, Matt of Atlantic, Joe (Jan) of Van Meter, Tom (Lori) of Urbandale; sisters, Judy Hupp and Joan Hatfield, both of DeSoto; and many cousins, nephews, nieces, and great nephews and nieces. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John (Sally); and sister, Janet (Dennis) Walker. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for future charitable organizations.
