Jamie R. Thomas, 45, of West Des Moines, Iowa, died Monday, December 30, 2019, at Kavanagh House on 56th in Des Moines, Iowa. She was surrounded by her loving family. A memorial service will be held 1:30 PM Saturday, January 4, 2020, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winterset. Family will greet friends the day before the service from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM, also at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Jamie was born on May 30, 1974 in Des Moines, Iowa to John and Diane (Hulbert) Robbins. She grew up in the Winterset area, graduating from Winterset High School in 1993. On October 18, 1997, she was united in marriage to David Thomas in Winterset, Iowa. Jamie enjoyed supporting her community by driving a school bus for students with special needs and also caring for the elderly. She loved cooking for her family (husband David and sons John and Holden) with family favorites being homemade tenderloins and baked beans. Family always remained the center of her life, especially attending Holden’s football games. As part of her sisterly love, she taught her nephews, Tyler and Robert, how to spit like llamas. Jamie’s greatest love was of her best friend and husband, David. They recently celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary. Jamie is survived by her husband, David of West Des Moines; sons, Johnathan Robbins and Holden Thomas, both of Winterset; sister, Christy (Mike) Smith of Winterset; nephews, Tyler Robbins, Robert Robbins, Justin Smith, Jacob Thomas, and Jason Beebe; nieces, Emily Thomas and Jessica Matlage; along with several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a stillborn son, Dakota Thomas. Memorials may be directed to her family. Online condolences may be left at www.caldwellparrish.com.
