Jan Lemon, 58, of rural Winterset died Sunday, July 31, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family and friends. A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the Jackson Building, Madison County Fairgrounds, where family will be present at this time. Memorials may be made to the family and online condolences may be left at ochiltree.com. Jan Lemon, daughter of Howard and Marlene (Boss) Ford, was born June 18, 1958 in Greenfield, Iowa. She graduated from Winterset High School in 1976 and was united in marriage with Dan Lemon on December 8, 1979 at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. The couple was inseparable and together ran their business, Lemon Farms - although she was considered three quarters the “boss”. Jan was a member of the Pythian Sisters and the Iron Dukes. She enjoyed coyote hunting and was a talented seamstress. She was a straight shooter and didn’t sugar coat things. Jan cherished the time spent with her close knit family, whether it was out on their acreage or on the road during harvest. Above all else, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Dan of Winterset; her children, Jerad Lemon (Ashley Hudson) of Winterset, Michael Lemon of Shanghai, China, and Scott (Bernadette) Lemon of Madison County; siblings, Donna (Steve) Crow of Truro, Kathy (Wes) Joynes of Panora, Becky (Terry) Flander of Phoenix, AZ, and Darrell (Shelly) Ford of Madison County; four grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Chad Lemon, and father-in-law, Joe Lemon.
