Jane Lenora Briggs-Livingston, age 86, of Bishop Drumm Retirement Center, Johnston, Iowa, passed away on October 20, 2020. Jane was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Knoxville, Tennessee. Jane Lenora was born to Paul Lewis Briggs and Helen Margaret Hiney Briggs on November 24, 1933. She grew up in Williamsport, Pennsylvania and graduated from Williamsport High School where she met her husband, Edward Alf Livingston. Jane was a graduate of Harrisburg Polyclinic Nursing School in 1954. She was passionate about nursing and cared for many Veterans of the Korean War. Her fellow nurses were called "Polygirls". She married Ed on August 20, 1955 and they moved to Gettysburg where he graduated from Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary. Their vocations took them from Pennsylvania to churches in Glen Ellyn, IL, Orland Park, IL, Lake Forest, IL, Grandview College in Des Moines, IA and finally Houston, TX. Their dream was to retire in the mountains so they did, in Tellico Village, Loudon, Tennessee. They loved motorcycling, hiking, music and a shared love of reading. Jane loved poetry, music, cooking, cross-stitching, bird watching, watching sports and letter writing, keeping in touch with friends and relatives from every place she had lived. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Helen Briggs, her husband of 58 years, Edward A. Livingston, and infant grandson, Michael Paul Kelley. Jane is survivived by daughter, Cheryl Livingston of Urbandale, Iowa, and son, Bruce Livingston (wife Donna) of Loudon, Tennessee and her daughters, Cara Conner, Chloe Conner and Chelsea Turpeinen. Grandchildren: Sean Kelley (Sara), Summer Eldridge (GT), Brendan Kelley (Denisa), and Courtney Carroll (Phill); and Great Grandchildren: Owen Kelley, Grace Kelley, Kennedy Kelley, Violet Crowe, Briggs Burton, and Brantley Carroll; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held at St. James Lutheran Church, 5665 Merle Hay Road, Johnston, IA (Limited attendance) and later service at her home Church, Faith Lutheran Church in Knoxville, TN. Donation may be made to Faith or St. James.
