She attended business school in Lincoln, NE. She was united in marriage with Bryan Gallatin and they were blessed with four children, Jerry, Brenda, Linda and Beth. Janet was a busy wife and mother on their farm near Linden, helping in any way she could and was the main "go-for". The family moved to Perry in 1965. Janet was always a loving, supportive mother, but also an active volunteer in her church, teaching catechism, and helping where ever she could. She was active in the communities where she lived, one being a Camp Fire Leader. She was very close with her extended family and her many friends became as family to her. As her own family grew to include grandchildren and then great grandchildren, she was busy with their activities, too. Their memories will be full of her smiling face, positive spirit and undying support. Janet was an excellent cook and baker. Her pies and cinnamon rolls were superb. For 25 years, Janet shared her love of cooking with the many residents of the Panora Nursing and Rehab Center. She touched the lives of many children who attended Beth's Child Care Center in Panora for 23 years. Janet was affectionately known as "Precious" by those little ones who will greatly miss her love. Janet was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Perry before moving to Panora and joining St. Cecelia Catholic Church. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bryan, sisters Joyce Mansfield, and brothers James and Jerry Garland. She is survived by and will always be in the hearts of her children, Jerry Gallatin and wife Teresa of Bouton; Brenda Snyder and husband Roger of Lake Panorama; Linda Gilliland and husband Mike of Urbandale; and Beth Bilbrey and husband Charlie of Panora; grandchildren Josh Snyder, Chris Gallatin (Lyndsey), Matt Gallatin, Kirby Snyder, Austin Rogers (Sara), Kelley Damman (Joel), Isaac Gallatin (Samantha), and Lucas Bilbrey (Alishea), and great grandchildren, Isabelle, Harrison, and Jace Snyder, Nixon and Nora Gallatin, Parker and Patrick Rogers, with two babies to be born soon. She is also survived by her brother Jack Garland of Valencia, CA; aunts Martha McDowell and Leone Boruff and uncle William Salmon; other relatives and many, many friends. Janet died at her home in Panora. Memorials in her name will be later distributed by her family and may be left or mailed to Hastings Funeral Home in Perry.
