Janice Hatch

Janice Elaine Hatch, 61, of Urbandale lost her long battle with cancer on Friday, July 11, 2014 at home surrounded by her family. Janice was born on August 16, 1952 in Des Moines to James and Sarah Buckingham. She graduated from Lincoln High School. Janice married Greg Hatch on January 10, 1979. She held many positions with UPS before retiring after 35 years. Janice was a member of the Lutheran Church of Hope. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, mushroom hunting, shopping, spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Greg, children; Jamie (Stacie) Hatch, Jeanean Hatch, parents, James and Sarah Buchingham, sisters; Janie Vonk, Judy Craven, Jeannette Buckingham, grandchildren; Taylor Hatch, Ashlyn Hatch, Kyler Hatch. She is preceded in death by her father-in-law, Carter Hatch and nephew, Todd Harper. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday July 18, 2014 at the Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines with a visitation an hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Waukee Cemetery. At the request of Janice, a celebration of life for friends and family will be at her home from 6:00 9:00 PM on Thursday, July 17, 2014. Memorial contributions can be made to Mercy Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
