Jannette Kay Hornsby, 77, of Madrid, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the Madrid Home in Madrid. Honoring her wishes, she will be cremated, and no services will be held.
Jannette was born on January 15, 1947, in Tama, Iowa, to Rudolph Sieck and Ruth (Lennie) Hoffman.
On April 27, 1962, she married Jerry Hornsby, and together they were blessed with four children: Charmalee, Christine, Gerald, and Joe. The couple lived in Bouton for a time before moving to Perry in 1964. As a couple, Jannette and Jerry contracted detasseling for over 30 years and walked beans. They also took on huge cleaning and moving projects for others.
Jannette enjoyed playing solitaire and listening to music, especially George Jones. A hard worker and dedicated to everything she did, Jannette was a one-of-a-kind, simple woman who loved and cherished her family above all else.
She is survived by and will be deeply missed by her three children: Charmalee (Russell) White of Perry, Christine Moran of Madrid, and Joe (Juana) Olvera of Madrid; daughter-in-law, Keisha Hornsby of Grand Junction; grandchildren: Kayla (Brandon) Brown of Las Vegas, Nevada, Travis (Jess) White of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Tyler White of Perry, Katarina (Clayton) Goodrich of Montana, Larissa Hornsby of Jefferson, and Conner Hornsby of Jefferson; as well as many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.
Jannette was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry Hornsby; son, Gerald Hornsby; grandson, Alex Moran; and brother, Richard Sieck.
