Jean Bess Taylor, daughter of Frank Clark Naylor and Gladys Grace Maile Naylor, was born October 31, 1922 in Greenbrier Township, Greene County, Iowa and died November 29, 2009 at the Greene County Medical Center, Jefferson, Iowa at the age of 87 years. Jean attended rural school and then Bayard High School. On November 1, 1938, she married Herbert Taylor. They were blessed with 4 children, Jim, Jeri, Jo, and Jon. Jean and Herb lived in rural Bayard and then lived in Greenbrier Township until 1967. They lived on acreage northeast of Jefferson from 1968 to 1988. The couple moved into Jefferson where Jean continued to live after Herb's death in 1996. Jean had worked at Louie's during WWII and also as a housekeeper. She was a homemaker aide and income maintenance worker for Social Services before working for Linda's Fashions. Jean enjoyed reading, family gatherings, and spending time with her friends. She also enjoyed her years of volunteering with the Greene County Medical Auxiliary and delivering Meals on Wheels. Jean had been a fair helper in the Open Class division. She was a member of the Greenbrier United Methodist Church and after moving northeast of Jefferson, was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Jefferson. Jean was a member of the B'Day Club, Hardin Arts and Crafts Club, the ARC, and New Hope Village Parents Association. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Herbert, and brother Russell Naylor. Jean is survived by and lovingly remembered by her daughters Jeri Reese and husband Terry of Jefferson; Jo Bardole and husband Dick of Ogden; sons Jim and wife Becky of Roland and Jon of Carroll. She is dearly loved by her grandchildren: Angie Hueser (Jon) of Grand Junction; Sonia Heins (Paul) of Ames; Shelley Haupert (Nate) of Lytton; Mike Reese and special friend Monick Tuon of Johnston; Clint Taylor and fianc Mariah Smith of Bowie, MD; Erin Englin (Owen) of Athens, IL; Shannon Bardole of Ames; Andrew Bardole (Jacki) of Indianola; and Sarah Taylor of Ames; great grandchildren: Wyatt and Walker Heins; Onna and Jossa Haupert; Jacob and Ethan Hueser , Nicholas, Geoffrey, Benjamin, and Emma Englin; Brady and Ava Bardole; and Makayla, Isaac, Riley, and Kali Tuon; brother Dee Naylor (Jean) of Scranton; sisters-in-law: Francetta Taylor of Gowrie; Vivian Uhl of Olathe, KS; Betty Taylor of West Des Moines; Norma Cornelius (Don) of Ames; brothers-in-law: Elmer Taylor of Indianola;; Wayne Taylor (Helen) of Arizona; Dee Taylor (Karen) of Pacific Junction; and Dick Taylor (Samantha) of California; other relatives and many friends.
