Jeanne Mccauley

August 16, 1939 — September 10, 2024

Willa Jeanne McCauley, known to everyone as Jeanne, passed away on September 10, 2024, at the age of 85.  She was born on August 16, 1939, to Colan and Arwillda Green in the rural area of Confidence, Iowa.  Jeanne graduated from Corydon High School in 1957 where she was active in choir and cheer leading.

In 1958 Jeanne married Bud McCauley.  Together they built a life in Adel, Iowa with their two children, Dennis and Mindy.  Spending time at the lake was an important part of their lives.  It started with a truck bed camper and evolved into outings with a boat, RV and lots of friends and their families.  Eventually, they bought a house at the Lake of the Ozarks where their kids and grandkids created countless memories. They also enjoyed snow skiing with family and friends. They traveled to the mountains of Colorado and ski resorts in Minnesota. Jeanne and Bud even took a trip to Austria and skied in the Alps.

Jeanne loved to sing in the church choir and one of her favorite things was to participate in the community musicals.  She volunteered at church activities, the local food bank, and she could always be found working every election as a poll worker.  Her beloved card club girls held a special place in her heart.  Everyone who knew her knew how much she loved the Iowa State Fair.

Jeanne was kind, caring and often silly.  She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She always did things like riding a tiny bike around the block, doing cartwheels in the front yard or making funny gestures and voices to make her grandkids laugh.  There was never a shortage of entertainment when she was around.

In addition to her parents, Jeanne was preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard and Victor Green.  Jeanne is survived by her husband, Bud McCauley and their son Dennis and his family; Nate McCauley, Callie and her husband Jared Garoutte and their daughter Keagan; daughter Mindy and her husband Jerry Kennedy and their daughters Jessica and Abigail Kennedy.  She is also survived by her sisters Joyce McKimbell and Mary Barton; and many nieces and nephews.
