Jennie Elaine Hale, age 82, passed away at Spurgeon Manor on February 21, 2021, where she had resided for the past 9 months. She had lived with her daughter and son-in-law in Van Meter, IA for 3 years prior to Spurgeon Manor. Elaine was born in Maryville, MO, on March 8, 1938, youngest child of George and Jennie Andrews. She was a graduate of Maryville R-II HS. On July 27, 1957, she married William (Bill) Edwin Hale from Bedford, IA, who was a Veteran of the US Army. They celebrated 57 years of marriage before his death in 2014. Elaine worked at the Nodaway Valley Bank, Maryville Area VoTec school, and Creviston’s Jewelry Store. Elaine was an active member of the First Christian Church in Maryville, where she enjoyed her passion for music, playing the piano and singing in the choir. She was a member of OES, Rosanna Chapter #262 for over 50 years. She held the Office of Organist, was a Worthy Matron along with other offices over the years - best known as Organist. Elaine and Bill loved traveling, visiting numerous cities across the country as well as an unforgettable trip to Germany. Elaine was blessed with many life-long friends. Her daughters wish to thank everyone for their love, care, and support. She was proceeded in death by her parents; husband, William; son, Andrew ‘Andy’; brothers, Ronald, Norman and James Andrews. She is survived by daughters, Shirley Merritt (Michael) of Van Meter, IA and Sherri Hale of Olathe, KS; grandchildren, Alaina Merritt, Jason Merritt (Mary), and Matthew Hankins (Amanda); two great-grandsons, Austin and Christian Penton; one great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Hankins; her sister, Dolores Lewis of San Angelo, TX; sister-in-law, Darlene Andrews of Lake Ozark, MO; and many nieces and nephews. She will be laid to rest at Nodaway Memorial Gardens Cemetery with immediate family in attendance. A memorial service for friends will be at a later date to honor her life. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the First Christian Church, 201 W Third, Maryville, MO. 64468.
