Jerry L. Sheets

A funeral services for Jerry Lee Sheets was held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry, Iowa. Words of comfort were provided by Pastor Chris Tjapkes of First Baptist Church in Perry. The honorary casket bearers were David Cannon, Anthony Kelly, Kevin Stracke, and Seth Blumberg. The casket bearers were Bill Blumberg, Derek Blumberg, Mike Haney, martin Stracke, Josh Blumberg, and Ryan Blumberg. Interment was at Elmwood Cemetery in Minburn, Iowa with Military Rites provided by the Iowa National Guard Funeral Honors Guard. Following burial there was a luncheon at the American Legion Hall in Perry. Jerry Lee Sheets, son of Harry Sheets and Gladys Charlotte Sheets, was born November 17, 1944 in Adel, Iowa, and died July 31, 2011 at his home in Perry, Iowa at the age of 66. He graduated from Perry High School and lived in Perry most of his life. Jerry was united in marriage to Adabell Gronbach on November 15, 1968. Jerry worked as a carpenter for Jack Frantum. He worked many years for Sioux City United Brick and Tile, retiring in 2010. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering, and spending time with his grandkids. Jerry was a member of the Army National Guard for six years and was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist fourth class. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Roy and Bobby Hurd, and Johnny Sheets. Jerry is survived by his wife Adabell; three sons: Timothy (Lori) Blumberg, Terry Blumberg, and Bill Blumberg; a daughter, Wanda Pennybaker; 20 grandchildren; 9 great- grandchildren; three brothers: Dickey, Ronnie and Jackie Sheets; and four sisters: Betty Hurd, Shirley Petro, Patricia Hatfield, and Diane Zenor; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
