Jetty Dawson (Chaney)

July 1, 1929 — January 16, 2023

Jetty Lou Dawson (Chaney) was called to heaven on January 16, 2023 surrounded by loved ones at the age of 93. She was born on July 1, 1929 to Edward and Kathryn Webb at her family home in Opie, Kansas, just outside of Hamilton.

She was swept off her feet by Louis Alden Dawson, marrying a few months later on March 3, 1949, in Hiawatha, Kansas. She was blessed with three precious children from her marriage. These dear ones helped fill the void in her heart of her little bubbies (brothers and sisters) she dearly missed after getting married and moving away from home.

In her early married years, Jetty, Louis and their children received Jesus Christ as their Savior, while living in Austonio, Texas. They answered a call from the Lord to always share their love for Christ with everyone they could. This desire soon led them to serve as Missionaries by becoming the Directors of The Missionary Training Center in Monterrey, Mexico. They helped many young men and women develop their love for Christ and Evangelism through their ministry, including their own children. This passion for lost souls only got brighter in Jetty’s latter days. Her faith carried her through all the way to her final home with Jesus.

Jetty was a beautiful woman with a gentle and quiet spirit. She made everyone she encountered feel welcomed, loved and valued. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Wife, Sister, Aunt (ET), and friend. She lived a glorious, long and full life rejoicing in God’s faithfulness. Jetty enjoyed sending beautifully handwritten cards, letters and notes of encouragement to her friends and family through the years. She treasured reading her Bible, praying and listening to gospel music. Her favorite thing to tell others in her final days was; “I love you, Jesus loves you, read your Bible, talk to Jesus and read the Book of Acts.”

Jetty is survived by her children, Lee Anna Dawson from Grapeland, Texas, Kathryn (Harold) Moore from Mount Carroll, Illinois, Travis (Susie) Dawson from Lovelady, Texas; grandchildren, Jeremy, Jessica, Jason and David; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Noah, Anthony and Dawson; sister, Carla Wolf from Maryland; brothers, Marion (Terri) Carlson from Florida, Eddy (Viola) Carlson from McPherson, Kansas; beloved niece, Kristen; beloved great-nephew, Ben; beloved great-niece, Baily; and several other adored nieces, nephews and dear friends and caregivers, including Dixie, Deborah, Colleen and Mu. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Kathryn Webb; husband, Louis Dawson; siblings, Paul Cartwright, Robert Carlson, Daryl Hanson, Juanita Beal, Clarence Carlson; and her beloved brother-n-law, Tyson Beal.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023 from 1:30-2:30 pm with a funeral service to follow at 2:30 pm at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory in Urbandale. A graveside service will follow at Glendale Cemetery.
