Jim Tallman

Jim Tallman, 72, of Winterset, died Monday, January 27, 2014 at the Winterset Care Center North. As per Jim’s wishes, he was cremated and a memorial service in memory of Jim will be held 10:30 a.m., July 12 at the Christian Church in Guthrie Center. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association. Jimmie Calvert Tallman was born in Guthrie Center, Iowa on December 20, 1941, the son of C. Walter and Margaret (Vanderley) Tallman. He grew up in Guthrie County and graduated from Guthrie Center High School in 1960. Later he married Linda Emery and to this union they adopted a son, Mark. During his working career, Jim worked mainly as a truck driver with various trucking companies. He most recently worked at the Lakeside Casino in Osceola as a Black Jack dealer. Jim is survived by his siblings, Donald (Carolyn) Tallman of Reno, NV; Darrell (Barb) Tallman of Salem, OR; Jack (Jan) Tallman of Panora; Norm (Opal) Tallman of Lincoln, NE; Marilyn (Roger) Hansen of Peru; Shirley Tallman of Denver, CO; Bill (Dixie) Tallman of Fort Worth, TX; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Mark Tallman; and four brothers, Henry, Gerald, Denny and Charles Tallman.
