Joan B Michael

Joan B. Michael, 89, passed away November 10, 2015 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 13 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory in Urbandale. A graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 14 at the McDivitt Cemetery in Urbandale. Joan was proud of her civilian service to her country as a Rosie the Riveter during WWII, where she worked in the shipyards. She loved reading, her orphan raccoons, dachshunds and most of all, her family. Joan is survived by her daughter, Jackie (Cloise) Woods; stepchildren, Margo Zerfas, Kari Burke, Danny Zerfas, Bonnie Zerfas and Wendy (Paul) Lombardi; grandchildren, Ron (Joy) Woods, Chuck (Chrys) Woods, Rob (Diana) Woods, John Woods and Mickole (Ryan) West; sister, Rosalie Bradshaw; brother, Bill (Theo) Michael; 13 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her partner of 35 years, Daniel Zerfas; children, Buddy McDowell and Mickey Howe; brothers, Ralph Michael and Bruce Michael and sister Florence Roach. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation in her name.
