Joan ‘Joni’ Hobart, 62, of Prole, Iowa, died Friday, November 19, 2004, at Fairview/University Hospital Minneapolis, Minn. She is survived by her husband, Delmar Hobart of Prole, IA; three children, Anne (Kevin) Comer of Winterset, IA, Mike (Chrissy) Hobart of Prole, IA, and Byron (Sara) Hobart of Truro, IA; one sister, Jean Fitz of Fremont, NE; four brothers James (Joan) Jackson of Marion, IA, Joseph (Karen) Jackson of Fort Dodge, IA, Andrew (Aura) Jackson of Omaha, NE, and Stephen (Diane) Jackson of Jefferson, IA; eight grandchildren, Steven, Joshua, Ashley, Ryan, Samantha, Alex, Abby and Caleb. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ralph Junior Jackson. Joan Machael Jackson was born November 19, 1942 in Guthrie Center, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph Jackson Jr. and Aryles Louise Simmer. She married Delmar ‘Butch’ Hobart on March 3, 1960, at the Christian Church in Jefferson, Iowa. She worked at Winterset Care Center North for 29 years holding various positions including assistant administrator and social worker. Joan was a member of the Winterset Square Dance Club and she loved gardening, fishing trips, baking and travel but foremost in her life were her children and grandchildren. Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. where the family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. November 22, 1904 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset Service: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday November 23, 2004 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset Memorial: A visitation will be held Monday, November 22, 2004 from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset; where the family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., November 23, 2004 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. Burial will be in the Mountpelier Cemetery, near Patterson, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to a fund established in Joni's memory.
