Joan Faye Leber was born September 29, 1935 in Minburn, Iowa to Clarence Huffman and Edith Steinshower Huffman and died on February 6, 2012 in her home in Perry, Iowa at the age of 76. Joan grew up in Minburn and at the age of eight she moved with her family to Perry, where she graduated from Perry High School in 1955. On March 26, 1954, Joan was united in marriage with Floyd Charles Leber in Toledo, Iowa. They became parents of four children: Thomas, Charles, Annette, and Matthew. The family lived in Perry while Floyd worked for the Milwaukee Railroad. In 1967 they moved to Woodward it is here that she started her LPN schooling at the Des Moines School of Nursing, She received her diploma in 1969. The family moved to Bagley in 1973 and back to Woodward in 1981 before settling in Perry in 1989. Joan later went to Iowa Central Community College and received her RN in 1981. Joan worked in several hospitals and nursing homes throughout her career. Joan retired and took over the end of life care for her husband, mother, and mother-in-law. Joan enjoyed genealogy and was a member of the Iowa Genealogy Society. She also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, painting, and every craft imaginable. Joan was a member of the First Christian Church. She was preceded by her parents; husband, Floyd; son Charles Dean Leber; brother, LaVerne Huffman; and brother-in-law, Robert Leber. Joan is survived by two sons: Thomas (Charlene) Leber and Matthew (April) Leber all of Perry; one daughter: Annette (Richard) Ganoe of Grand Junction; seven grandchildren: Jeramy (Julie) Ganoe, Jeanette (Aaron) Stoffa, Jamie (Brenda Kirk) Ganoe, Daniel (Misty) Leber, Jessica Leber, Adam (Jessica) Leber, and Joshua Leber; two step-grandchildren: Chris (Keri) Taylor and Crystal (John) Bates. Other survivors include eight great-grandchildren: Saleen, Carter, and Cole Ganoe, Shelby and Sara Stoffa, Lacey Ganoe, and Hope and Ethan Leber; four step-great-grandchildren: Korben and Brendan Taylor, and Xavier and Izick Bates; brother-in-law James (Beryl) Leber, sisters-in-law; Erva Lu Hutchings and Madonna Leber; many other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
