Services for Joanne Kay Lingner were held 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Junction, Iowa. Visitation was after 12:00 p.m. Thursday with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson. Rev. Dan Emmert of the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Junction provided words of comfort. Honorary bearers were: Alyssa McCollom, Jada McCollom, Trinity McCollom, Chance McCollom, Cody McCollom, Caden McCollom, Carter McCollom, Dakota Hastings, Levi Hastings, Nash Lingner, Jillian Lingner, Grant Birkenholtz and Kyle Graven. Casket bearers were: Jeremy McCollom, Chad McCollom, Laura Hastings, Adam Lingner, Chris Lingner, Heather Lingner, Dillon Blum and Destiny Birkenholtz. Meladee Graven, Travis Graven and Cory Graven were the musicians. Hymns chosen were He Touched Me, How Great Thou Art, Angels Among Us and Handful of Weeds. Following the service was a luncheon at the church. Interment will take place at a later date in Violet Hill Cemetery. Joanne Kay (Rhoades) Lingner was born February 9, 1936 in Dawson, Iowa to Loyde and Blanche (McDowell) Rhoades. Kay passed away on June 14, 2015 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. Kay grew up in Dawson, Perry & Rippey. She graduated from Rippey High School in 1953. On June 5, 1955 she was united in marriage to Wayne Lingner. They are the parents of Craig, Roxanne and Tami. She spent many years providing care to others both in nursing homes and as a home health care aide. Kay enjoyed spending time with family and attending the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. This included teaching all of her grandsons to fish. These were special times remembered by all. She also enjoyed camping, reading, and gardening. She was an active member in the Grand Junction Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon for many years as well as on the Courtesy Committee. Kay was preceded in death by her parents Loyde and Blanche Rhoades, brothers-in-law Jap Fagen, Bill Alex, Gene Hagge and nephew Ron Hagge. She is survived by her children Craig (Susie) Lingner of Olathe, KS, Roxanne (Terry) McCollom of Jefferson, IA and Tami (Donnie) Blum of Baxter, IA; grandchildren: Adam Lingner, Chris (Jamie) Lingner, Heather Lingner (fiance Gilbert Thayer), Jeremy (DeAnn) McCollom, Chad (Tina) McCollom, Laura (Cole) Hastings, Dillon Blum and Destiny (Todd) Birkenholtz; great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Jada, Trinity, Chance, Cody, Caden, Carter, Dakota, Levi, Nash, Jillian and Grant; sisters Eleanor Alex of Grand Junction, IA and Doris Hagge of Cedar Falls, IA; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Memorials in her name may be sent to Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson.
