Joanne Sylvia See, the daughter of Grace Brennan and John Francis Ford, was born June 10, 1933 in Kansas City, Missouri. She passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Methodist West Hospital in West Des Moines, Iowa at the age of eighty years, three months, and nineteen days. Joanne was united in marriage with Kenneth Franklin See on May 6, 1951 at St. Augustin Church in Des Moines, Iowa. To this union, four children were born: Mary Anne, Susan, John, and Dorothy. The family made their home in Peru and later moved to Winterset in 1983. Joanne worked as a nursing assistant at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines and also for Allbright Lighting Company in their sales department. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Winterset and the Altar and Rosary Society. Joanne enjoyed sewing, collecting stamps, and raising birds. She especially enjoyed her family and her dogs, Buddy and Little Bit. Joanne is survived by her husband, Kenneth See of Winterset; her children: Mary Anne Snyder, Susan See, and John See all of Winterset, and Dorothy (Dan) Kellogg of Des Moines; three grandchildren: Andrew Snyder, Renee Kellogg, and Michael Kellogg; two great-grandchildren: Thomas Snyder and Mya Snyder; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Grace Ford; and three brothers: Sonny Ford, Jack Ford, and Joe Ford who was Joanne’s twin. The family will receive friends at Ochiltree Funeral Service and Aftercare in Winterset from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Wednesday, October 2, 2013. A Rosary will be held at the funeral home at 7:00 PM Wednesday evening. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 3, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset. Memorials may be made to the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
