Jody Lynn (Godwin) Schutte

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Jody Lynn Schutte, who left this world on Wednesday, January 29, at the age of 57. Her family was by her side.

Jody was born December 16, 1967, in Jefferson, Iowa, to Larry and Pamela (Embrey) Godwin where she joined her big sister, Teresa. A few years later, little brother Nyle joined. Jody spent her childhood on a farm outside of Redfield, Iowa, where her favorite pastimes included camping with her family, vacationing with her best friend, and helping her dad on the farm.

Jody graduated from Dexfield High School in 1986 and went on to graduate from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1992. With a compassionate heart and a love for people, Jody had a natural calling towards a nursing career that spanned over 25 years.

In 1995, Jody met Russ. They were united in marriage on April 5, 1996. To this marriage, they welcomed Sidney Rae and they made their home in Van Meter, Iowa. As a family they would vacation often to anywhere that had a nice beach, spend a lot of time at their lake home on Sun Valley Lake, and play a lot of cribbage with friends and family.

She is survived by her daughter, Sidney (Luke) Anderson; parents, Larry and Pam Godwin; granddaughters, Hensley and Murphy Anderson; sister, Teresa (Rick) Long; brother, Nyle (Tina) Godwin; nieces Kori (Mike) Danner, Bailey (Brandon) Pruitt and Hunter Godwin.

Jody will be joining her husband Russ and her nephew Christopher Long.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Monday, February 3, 2025 at the Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home in Adel, IA. A private family burial will be held at a later date at the Morrisburg Cemetery in Stuart, IA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family for future designation.
