Joseph Ryan Stoeffler was born April 15, 1979 in Winterset, Iowa, the son of Fred and Susan Kay (Jacobson) Stoeffler. He is a 1997 graduate of Winterset High School and later attended Iowa State University and graduated with a degree in Horticulture, with an emphasis in Turf Management, in 2002. He lived in Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio since 2003 and was employed by Muirfield Village Golf Course in Columbus. He is survived by his parents, Kay and Don Stanley of Winterset; Fred Stoeffler and Linda Vierling also of Winterset; a sister, Alyssa Tadlock and husband, Brad of Winterset; a brother, Adam Stoeffler of Ames; a grandfather, Norman ‘Jake’ Jacobson and wife, Joanne; a nephew, Garrett; a special friend, Jill Riggs; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends; and his dog, Jaxon. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Art and Marie Stoeffler and his maternal grandmother, JoAnn Jacobson. Joe was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity at Iowa State University and was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Winterset. He was an exceptional athlete. He was involved in football, baseball and golf in high school and continued to be an avid golfer. Joe died Sunday, October 29, 2006 at his home in Columbus, Ohio. He was 27. Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, where family will be present to receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., November 2, 2006 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. Service: 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 3, 2006 at the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset. Memorial: Memorial contributions may be directed to a fund established in Joe's name.
